It’s summertime! And what’s a better way of spending summer than taking a plunge into the cerulean waters of the Aegean Sea off the coast of Athens? Imagine swimming spread-eagled in the crystal clear waters, the soft breeze blowing through your face while staring at the cloudless sky over Cape Sounion. Did you say, “Life is bliss?” Oh yeah. Add in staying at a resort reminiscent of ancient Greece, with spectacular views of the Temple of Poseidon everywhere you look. You’ll probably be ready to hop on the next plane. No one will blame you.
Cape Sounio Grecotel Resort sits on a pine-clad hillside surrounded by landscaped gardens dotted by glistening pools.
From above, the resort looks like a real oasis, a lush island surrounded by glimmering waters. Boasting two stretches of white beach – one sand and the other shingle, guests will be truly spoilt for choice. Sun loungers and towels are provided at both beaches at no extra cost. The resort is truly a one-stop shop for a relaxing and exhilarating stay. Throw in live music combined with excellent customer service, and you might never want to leave the striking Cape Sounio Grecotel Resort.
If you’re looking for some recreation, plenty can be had at The Cape Sounio Grecotel Resort. Swimming is a given. You have a choice of diving in the fresh waters of the sea or dipping in the equally relaxing waters in the pools. Kids have separate pools so adults can have fun, too without interruptions. If you’re feeling adventurous, venture out deeper into the sea. Go diving with the PADI-certified Aqua Divers Club in Anavissos, only 15 km from the resort. The reception desk will be happy to arrange a diving session for you.
Throw in live music combined with excellent customer service; you will quickly understand that the Grecotel Cape Sounio is a relaxing place.
Is shopping for your cup of tea? Grab your purse and head out to Lavrio or to high-end boutique shops in Glyfada. Go and explore the malls and shopping centers in the city center. With plenty of stores to choose from and scenic views, you might shop until you drop. The Riviera is the Athenians’ playground in the summer, so pass by. Sip a cup of latté at any waterfront cafés while relishing the view. Walk the promenades and take a peek at the marinas. Drop by the boutiques lining the Riviera. And finish the day with a sumptuous dinner by the sea.
Then, come home to your little nook at Cape Sounio Grecotel. Shaped like an amphitheater ensures, each guest room at the hotel offers majestic views of the Temple of Poseidon. When you open your window, you’d be greeted with majestic sea views surrounded by lush vegetation thick as a forest.
I end up staying at one Deluxe Bungalow with private pool and a unique view of the sea and the Poseidon’s Temple. The room has 36m² inside and 50m² outdoor. The layout features an open plan living area, bedroom, and en-suite dining & living area. The private pool is not big, but the view over the sea is spectacular. The interior design is elegant with a touch of the exotic.
The breakfast is amazing, one of the best. Also, a bottle of complimentary wine and patisserie waiting for us in the room.
The bathroom from the Deluxe Bungalow with private pool has not good privacy as just a folding screen separating the bedroom from the bathroom and the toilet has only a frosted glass door. The bed comfort is average.
I enjoy the diner where I found tasty food, excellent service, and a stunning view.
If sailing is your thing, the resort can arrange a private yacht cruise. You can explore the islets and coves nearby. And, as pièce de résistance, you can enjoy a glass of champagne while cruising around the base of the Temple of Poseidon as the sunsets. Or go for an exclusive cruise under the moonlight with your loved one. Listen to the gentle lapping of waves while being mesmerized by the floodlit Temple in the distance. Take a late-night dip or simply relax and enjoy the moment. The choice is yours. Just call the reception desk at Cape Sounio Hotel and they’ll be happy to assist.
Thinking of an out-of-water excursion? Well, you can go for a walk and explore the nearby Sounio National Park, known for its picturesque beauty and rich history. Perhaps you might even stumble upon some Greek artifacts. Walking routes can be provided at the hotel desk. Worried about the little ones? You can always take them to Grecoland kids’ club, where they can exercise their exploratory senses and discover new and exciting things. Or they can enjoy their own endless lawns and explore gardens. Maybe they might even find another secret garden or two at the Valencia Soccer School.
But the crème de la crème, a big must-try is the resort’s very own Elixir Spa Retreat. Spanning 5,000 square meters of landscaped gardens, a visit to the spa will truly nourish your soul. Make sure you try one of the Ayurveda treatments provided by Indian therapists. You might think you’ve literally entered heaven on earth as it will nurture your senses to the core.
If you’re looking for lively nightlife, this is not the place for you. Grecotel Cape Sounio is a place to relax.
