New York City’s Most Expensive Hotel Room: $40,000/night

According to NewYorkHotels.org New York City’s most expensive hotel room goes for $40,000 per-night rate. We are talking about Ty Warner Penthouse Suite, at the Four Seasons Hotel. For this price tag guests are treated to such luxuries as sweeping views of Manhattan in every direction, bathroom sinks made of solid rock crystal blocks and a personal butler who is on call 24 hours a day. Guests also have the use of a Maybach or Rolls-Royce—with a personal driver behind the wheel and they can enjoy an art concierge, a personal trainer, all-inclusive access to the Spa and dining venues, and unlimited international telephone calls.

The opulent, one-of-a-kind Ty Warner Penthouse soars 800 feet (244 metres) above the street. Created by visionary architects I. M. Pei and Peter Marino, the suite was seven years and USD 50 million in the making and offers incredible 360-degree views. Four glass balconies are set on a diagonal to the north-south, east-west grid of Manhattan, capturing distinctive views. Oversized, single-paned windows and glass railings ensure that your sight line is uninterrupted.

Sumptuous and stunningly beautiful, the 600-square-foot (56-square-metre) master bedroom features walls with hand-applied straw marquetry by French artisans, as well as a wall-to-wall custom carpet. Sculpture, hand-stamped Venetian velvet, Thai silk with 22-carat gold threads and custom-designed furniture, each a piece of art in its own right, accent the room. The spa room can easily be converted into a second bedroom, if required.

The master bathroom is entirely clad in custom slabs of rare Chinese onyx and includes sinks carved from solid blocks of rock crystal, underlit with LED lighting. Unwind in a chromatherapy infinity soak tub or an oversized Dornbracht steam rain shower with six body jets. Other features include a Toto Neorest toilet with wireless remote, sensors and heated seat, and floors with radiant heat. The walls, ceiling and sink in the jewel-like guest powder room are fashioned from semi-precious tiger’s eye stone.

To the south is the library, lined with hundreds of volumes on art and culture housed in bookcases framed by an exquisite bronze leaf motif. A whimsical gilded bronze chandelier and a Bosendorfer grand piano take center stage.
